School kids
Many students aren't able to attend school because they lack the basics to make this possible. Unequal access to resources results in their loss of interest in school. Most parents have to decide between putting food on the table and buying school books and supples.

For students whose families cannot afford supplies and uniforms, coming to school unprepared can create social and emotional challenges, in addition to putting kids at a disadvantage for learning. Some students are not able to perform simple tasks like study from a textbook or take notes. Poor grades result in low self esteem and potential disengagement from academic studies. Even the best teachers will be hindered if the students do not have the needed supplies or resources.

The education that children receive in such an environment is inadequate and a far cry from being empowering. Better supplies and a supportive environment will result in a higher standard of education.

Food for Families
Imagine if you and your family didn't know where your next meal was going to come from. Imagine wanting to work to support you family, but there's simply no jobs available. Imagine waking up each day with a sense of hopelessness and despair.
There are thousands of families in my hometown (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa), that go to bed hungry every night. Parents go hungry simply to make sure that their children don't. Across Borders provides food parcels, containing staple items, to families each month.
If extra funds permit, we include fruit and vegetable in each parcel. It's our desire to increase our giving by a hundred each quarter. And, even then ...we will have just scratched the surface
