Madagascar – Quilt Making

Our first micro-business was in a village outside Morondava. We met with a group of women and invited them to "dream" of what they’d like to do to support their families and the children’s home. They wanted to start a quilt making business. Across Borders provided the funds to help fulfill their dream. The business these women started was able to support their families and provide food for the 30 children at the children’s home.

Have a great weekend #friends. Make some

Philippines – Goat Breeding

Our dear friends, the Santiagos, wanted to address the increasing number of children fending for themselves on Dagupan's streets. They started their mission by befriending the children and providing them with a hot meal and shelter. Across Borders helped start a couple businesses to help fund the home. The most successful was the goat breeding project. Previous to Across Borders getting involved, the Santiagos had to solicit local businesses on a daily basis for food for the children.

Malawi - Maize Mill

Grinding grain to make flour is a long, arduous task.  Since there was no Maize Mill in Kande Beach, the local people had to walk for hours to the closest mill.  Across Borders helped set-up a Mill in Kande Beach where people could bring their own grain to be milled. Proceeds from the mill helped to support the local village school and funded the drilling of a borehole to provide fresh water for the community.
