CHANGED HEARTS

                ...CHANGES LIVES

OUR VISION

We believe every person deserves TO LIVE WITH DIGNITY. Financial aid alone can't solve the problems of poverty. More than two billion people around the world lack access to the basics needed for survival. We need to change that. An end to this atrocity is capable when the hearts of those who have access are connected with hearts of those who don't. Effective change is wholeheartedly felt when both hearts have been impacted.

OUR STORY

Across Borders was founded by Mark Charles in 2006 as a means to build a bridge between two worlds ...those who were fortunate with those who were not. Through stories and images, it's our HOPE to incite action by connecting the humanity that resides in ALL OF US.

OUR FOUNDER

Mark's work as a humanitarian and photographer began in 1995 when he moved back to South Africa (birthland) with his family. He wanted to shine a light on the inequalities many live with on a daily basis. Change was needed for those who lacked their fundamental and basic human needs.

Liz Govender has devoted 37 years of her life to serving through Youth for Christ, where she walked alongside destitute children and youth in underprivileged communities. She offered not just support, but hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

Today, her heart for people continues through her work with Across Borders. Liz is deeply passionate about recognizing the needs that exist around us, especially within the educational sector, and responding in ways that bring encouragement and opportunity.

She considers it a true privileged to serve, and her life reflects a quiet but powerful commitment to making a lasting difference. One life, one story, and one community at a time.
